The Hope College Department of Engineering invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position starting in August 2018. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering or a closely related field, a passion for undergraduate teaching, and a desire to conduct student-faculty collaborative research. The Hope College engineering major is ABET accredited and offers a range of courses designed to prepare students for entry into engineering graduate school or the workplace. We seek a colleague who will contribute ideas and energy to the development and strengthening of both courses and research in the thermal fluid sciences. The courses taught by the new faculty hire could include: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Conservation Principles, and possibly courses in chemical engineering topics such as Reaction Engineering, Separation Processes, Mass Transfer, and Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, or other mechanical engineering topics courses depending on the candidate's background and areas of expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program that is amenable to undergraduate student participation; startup funds will be provided to support this endeavor.
